Agenda

Friday 17 October, 2025

09:00: Welcome coffee and networking in the Business Pavilion

09:45 - 9:50: Welcome by Riah Pryor, Conference Chair

09:50 - 10:05: Opening keynote: Andrew Wolff (Beowolff Capital) in conversation with Julia Peyton-Jones (Brunswick Arts).

10:05 - 10:45: AI - the challenges and opportunities for the art market & creativity.

As AI transforms how art is created, shared, and valued, what protections do artists and the art market need? This panel brings together legal and policy experts to explore copyright and licensing challenges, government responses to these challenges, and the implications of generative AI for artists and the market. Speakers will consider how artists, institutions, and policymakers can work together to ensure creativity thrives in the AI era.  With speakers: Lord Clement-Jones, Margherita Barbagallo (Dragon Argent), Tim Flagg (UK AI), Christian Zimmermann (DACS), and Jennifer Schipf (AXA XL).

10:45 - 11:00:  The Art Market needs a Moonshot with Curtis McConnell (Authentify)

The art market keeps failing to live up to its potential as a great asset class largely because it is stuck in a prior millenium. To move forward, we must embrace technology, challenge norms, and go back to first principles. The art world needs standards, governance, and a code of ethics. We all know these are needed, and we hear calls to action from industry leaders, but change is always for a distant future, as far away as 2050. In May, we spoke about the 6 boring technologies that can change the industry. We have these tools now. And we can make it happen before 2035. All we need is to invest in the future, now.

11:00 - 11:30:  Art & Technology: the next steps in investment strategies with speakers: Chris Bentley (AXA XL), Charlotte Stewart (MyArtBroker) and Curtis McConnell (Authentify) and Annika Erikson (Articheck).

11:30 - 11:55: Networking coffee break

11:55 - 12:45 Beyond Bricks and Mortar: Rethinking Collecting in a Shifting Art World

This panel explores how art collecting is being reshaped by technology, shifting market dynamics, and evolving creative practices. As digital tools, experimental formats, and new platforms redefine how art is made and shared, collectors are moving beyond the acquisition of objects to become participants in ecosystems of connection, meaning, and innovation. Rather than positioning digital practice in opposition to tradition, we frame it as an expansion—opening new ways to collect, support, and engage with artists and communities.  With speakers: Sylvain Levy (DSL Collection), Ulrich Schrauth, (Art Dubai Digital 2025), Fiorenzo Manganiello (LIAN Foundation), BREAKFAST and moderated by Benedetta Ghione (Art Dubai).

12:45 - 1:10: Quick-fire pitches: The four shortlisted companies will present a pitch of up to 3 minutes outlining how their company will have revolutionised the art world in 2050.  A panel of judges will vote on one winner that will be announced at the conference. Judges: Jennifer Schipf (AXA XL), Marc Spiegler, Margherita Barbagallo (Dragon Argent), Adam Prideaux (Hallett Independent) and Jean-Baptiste Costa de Beauregard (ArtNova)

Criteria for entry: How will your company have revolutionized the artworld by 2050?

The 5 factors for selection:

  • How impressive and interesting is the raw idea?
  • How effective is the implementation so far
  • How big is the problem being solved?
  • How ethical is the business?
  • What are the business’s long-term prospects?

1:10-2:10: Networking Lunch

2:10: Meet our Exhibitors

2:15-2:30: Quick-fire pitch winner in 2024, Callum Hale-Thomson presents a year on with First Thursday.  Shortly after winning last year’s quickfire pitch competition, we formally launched our collector intelligence platform, which now powers dozens of leading galleries worldwide – online, in the gallery, and at more than 100 fairs. Last month First Thursday released their inaugural Art Fair Report, featured in ARTnews and on the ArtTactic podcast. Request your copy here.

2:30-3:05: The Asia Pivot: How technology is reshaping art collecting in Asia.

This discussion will look at digital strategies, data, social media, and new business models or forms of access and outreach. What are the specific tools or platforms being adopted in specific markets such as WeChat-based sales, digital exhibition strategies, e-commerce infrastructure, or blockchain experimentation. How are younger collectors in Asia are engaging with art differently because of tech, is there a regional difference in online behaviors, virtual  engagement, or transparency expectations? With speakers: Alan Lau (Animoca Brands), Roshini Vadehra (Vadehra Gallery), Yukako Yamashita (Art Collaboration Kyoto) and moderated by Vivienne Chow (Artnet)

3:05: Quick-fire pitch announcement winner

3:15: Closing remarks by Riah Pryor
